Emotional Abuse.

We don't usually talk about emotional abuse, and the emphasis is mainly on physical abuse. What is emotional abuse?

Emotional abuse is a pattern of behavior in which the abuser insults, humiliates, and generally instills fear in an individual to control them. A lot of relationships silently suffer emotional abuse. It’s usually hard to detect. I thought this was a form of love language until a counselor once told me, control in a relationship is a form of abuse

Emotional abuse centers around control, manipulation, isolation, and demeaning or threatening behavior. Please take note of the pattern of behavior; a single occurrence doesn‘t necessarily qualify for emotional abuse; it’s usually the pattern of event. Emotional abuse, if not recognized and addressed, can be as detrimental as physical abuse.

Emotional abuse can have a psychological toll on an individual. Victims of emotional abuse are often worn down so that they cannot see the harmful dynamics. They believe the challenges are their fault. I will advocate for anyone suffering emotional or physical abuse to seek help, which will sometimes mean leaving the relationship. We have heard so many stories of people dying in abusive relationships. Choose peace and sanity over any detrimental outcome. Life is too precious
